Now, I will discuss the chart of deductions made. There are few deductions that are fixed like NPS, CGHS, CGEIS, Professional Tax and has to be deducted from each and every employee’s salary, irrespective of the grade pay.

National Pension Scheme (NPS)5433 Calculated = (Basic Pay + Dearer Allowances)*10%
Total6343Note: NPS amount changes as it depends upon Basic Pay & DA

Similarly, we can calculate the deductions for other pay levels 6 & 5.

1. Therefore, Considering Pay level 7 – Grade pay Rs.4600, the takeaway (In-hand) salary for entry-level SSC CGL candidates will be Rs.63,118/- (Rs.69461 – Rs.6343) (without Income Tax deduction).

2. Therefore, Considering Pay level 6 – Grade pay Rs.4200, the takeaway (In-hand) salary for entry-level SSC CGL candidates will be Rs.50,492/- (Rs.55686 – Rs.5914) (without Income Tax deduction).

Note: While calculating the in-hand salary, I have not considered the Income Tax that varies in each financial year and how much you save. Further, the deductions vary as the basic pay and the dearer allowances vary.

How to get the job

There are three stages to clear SSC CGL (Tier-I, Tier-II & Tier-III). Tier-I & Tier-II are objective exams whereas, Tier-III is subjective. The total score of the combined three tiers will get you a job.

The forms are filled every year on ssc.nic.in and the candidates have to clear each tier to appear for the next stage. All posts are Central Government jobs only. Hence, you may get posted anywhere in India.

You can read previous blogs of my site to know the strategy to clear the exam and details of this examination.
